OVERALL , july fifth, it was a hot summer day in phoenix arizona, but then again, what day wasnt summer in arizona. the rutherford's, robert and denise were expecting their first child anytime soon. it was four a.m. when denise went into labor. a few hours later and after many phone calls all over the u.s. shayla rose rutherford was born. from birth they knew that shayla was going to be a handful. She was always crying, always causing a scene. the rutherford's were well renowned lawyers in phoenix, owning their own firm.

after shayla, denise decided that she didnt want kids. shayla was a handful, and two of them would be worse. all throughout middle school shayla was doing things to get herself into trouble. wether it was biting a teacher or student, or locking someone in the bathroom, she was getting into trouble all the time. her parents tried taking her to anger management, but shayla wasnt angry, just abrasive. her parents tried everything, but nothing worked. taking her out of school they decided to start home schooling her.

shayla and her mother never had the best relationship, so home schooling her didnt really work out past her eighth year of school. returning to school shayla calmed down, she mellowed out. her parents channeled her anger into sports, soccer, lacrosse and rugby. seeing an improvement in her grades, social life and anger issues shayla was level and graduated in the top of her class. when she hit highschool everything changed. shayla had attended a small middle school, less then one hundred were in her graduating class. highschool was different, it was huge, and there were various groups of kids.

of course shayla being the obnoxious outgoing girl that she was, fit in with everyone and soon became the 'popular rich' girl of her class. even the older students were noticing her. she was the girl who threw the best parties, the girl who got what she wanted when she wanted. the girl who seemed to have no problems, no family problems and no emotional problems. however shayla was a wreck, she was going through her identity crisis and at some points, she considered killing herself. that was when she met marshall. marshall was a senior while shayla was a junior. marshall was the bad boy that shayla wanted and the one that her parents didnt know about.

marshall was a drug dealer, a party boy and an illegal car racer. shayla fell into drugs, and she fell hard. she began dealing them herself. she was blinded by love, she thought marshall loved her, but really he just loved the sex. it wasnt until one night that things went sour, that shayla realized that he didnt love her, he never would. it was a typical party, shayla was plastered and marshall was making his deals. someone tipped the cops off, and shayla couldnt run as quick as everyone else, marshall left her. after that night, she didnt see marshall for the rest of her life. after getting arrested and put in jail, her parents bailed her out.

after months of withdrawal and pain, shayla was weaned from drugs, but alcohol was her weakness. she snuck her parents alcohol. she couldn't live like this anymore, so one day she just left. leaving everything behind her, she took her trust fund and ran to manhattan. buying her own apartment shayla continued to deal drugs, and still does, on occasion. she got a job as a bartender at a local bar and dreams of one day working in a burlesque club. she hasnt spoken to her parents for almost a year and doesnt plan on it, she moved here to start over, although alcohol is still her weakness, she is weaning herself off of drugs.
